We're starting our first journal/idea club series! For now, we're calling it Sandbox: a place where we can play, share and create together.

The first meeting will be presented by Kevin will be about whales.

Featuring strudel by Jutta

The paper comes from Cell Reports and the goal sounds somewhat straight-forward: Bowhead whales live up to 200 years. Humans are kinda like whales. So let's discover why these whales live so long and maybe we can extend human life as well.

What did we learn? Read the paper and come to journal club to find out!

Notes:

This is the first journal club meeting, so we'll also be talking what topic(s) we want to focus on for future meetings.

This is also the first meetup we've had in a little while, so now is a good time for anyone new to come out, meet people and get to know what the community is like.

If we have time, we'll also introduce and discuss our first community project: The Ray Cat Solution
